Charles D. Clayton age 79 of Perry, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at University of Michigan, Sparrow Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 214 S. Main St., Perry, MI 48872.

Charles Douglas Clayton was born on December 19, 1945 in West Branch, MI a son of James and Dorothy (Curtis) Clayton. After high school he served in the United States Airforce for 2 years. On November 13, 1966 he married Claudia Nihart. Charles enjoyed woodworking, doing home improvements, trying new foods, watching deer and enjoying nature, loved animals, being active in his church and helping anyone in need. Prior to his retirement, he worked for IBM as a computer technician for 33 years.

Charles is survived by his son, Matt (Angela) Clayton; sister-in-laws, Allison Schluchter and Julie Stevens; grandchildren, Christina, Cathy, Bethany, and Noah; great grandchildren, Loralei, Lynkon, Daxton, and Landyn; siblings, Jack Clayton, Jim Clayton, Julie Globke and Rose (Mark) DeMatio; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Clayton; sons, Charles Clayton and Mark Clayton; brother, Thomas Clayton; parents, James and Dorothy Clayton.
