Nancy Marie Cook, age 77 of Morrice, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at her home surrounded by loved ones. A memorial gathering with food and fellowship will be held from 2-6:00 PM on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the Morrice Meadows Club House, 335 E 3rd St, Morrice, MI 48857.

Born on April 8, 1948, in Owosso, Michigan, to James Calvin and Helen Marie (Darling) Hewitt, she was a cherished member of a lively household of eight siblings. Her life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and dedication to others.

Nancy's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family. She was a loving mother to Melissa (Anthony) Ferrigan, Aaron DeFreese, Crystal (Chris) Jones, and Alisha DeFreese. Her role as a grandmother to Jordan Green, Trevor DeFreese, Justin DeFreese, Adam DeFreese, Brandon Hatfield, Jeremy Hatfield, Elizabeth Latunsky, and Luke Ferrigan was one she embraced with great joy and pride.

The delight of her later years was her great-grandchildren, Harper, Jade, and Anaya, who brought so much joy to her heart.

Nancy's siblings, Jackie Kuikendoll, Kirk Hewitt, Khris Hewitt, Sherry Laux, and Debbie Argemedo, remember her as a source of strength and comfort in their lives. Her dear friend Roy Miles filled her days with love and laughter and chosen family member Heather Lyons was such a delight to brighten her day. Stella, her loyal puppy dog, was a constant companion, staying by her side through thick and thin.

Nancy's educational achievements were a source of great pride for her, as she was a 1993 graduate of Perry High School. Her professional life was devoted to caring for mentally disabled individuals for over 22 years. To Nancy, the people she cared for were ore than just patients; they were an extension of her family. Her servant's heart shone brightly in her work, and her passion for helping others was undeniable.

Gardening was one of Nancy's cherished pastimes, nurturing her flowers with the same love and attention she gave to her family. Even as health challenges arose in her later years, she maintained her infectious sense of humor. Laughter was a constant in her home, and she was ever grateful for every moment shared with her loved ones.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James and Helen Hewitt; her husband, Lyle Wayne Cook; her infant twin daughter, Anne Marie Ross; and her brothers, Dave Hewitt and Larry Hewitt. Her memory will be held close in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

The family is being serv ed by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes where online condolences may be shared at www.watkinsfuneralhomes.com.
