Jack Deryl Cook

Jack Deryl Cook, 94, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, in Ormond

Beach, Florida.

Born on October 3,1930, in Chula, Georgia, Jack lived a long and eventful life marked

by passion, perseverance, and a deep love for motorsports. From an early age, he was

drawn to the thrill of racing, a passion that would become a defining part of his life. His

enthusiasm for speed and competition continued from racing for Harley Davidson on the

beach of Daytona to later transitioning to car racing throughout the State of Florida.

Moving on his own from Georgia at age 16, Jack worked at Service Paint & Glass at an

early age, later finishing his career at W. R. Appenzellar Glass.

Jack's legacy lives on thru his beloved wife of 69 years Helen Cook; his sons Jack and

Tim Cook; his daughter Tammy Wachtel; grandsons J.R. Cook and Dylan Cook;

granddaughters Ashleigh Via and Kelsy Wachtel; and great grandchildren, Georgia,

Isabella and Elizabeth Cook, and Julianna and Abigail Via, who carry forward his spirit

and love for life. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brother, and sisters.

Jack will be remembered not only for his contributions to Florida's racing community but

also for enduring bonds he shared with those closest to him. May his memory bring

comfort to all who knew him. A visitation will be held on October 2, 2025, from 5:00pm

to 7:00pm at Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Ave., Daytona Beach.

A private funeral service follows on October 3rd in Tifton, Georgia.
