Charles Albert Dahline, age 85 of Mankato passed away on January 24, 2025 surrounded by family and friends at the Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato Hospital.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before services at the church. Funeral services will be at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Mankato on Friday, January 31st at 10:00 am. There will be a visitation at 2:00 pm at Tripolis Lutheran Church, Kandiyohi, Minnesota and the burial will be at Tripolis Lutheran Church at 3:00 pm on Friday January 31st. Memorials may be given to Christ The King Lutheran Church or an organization of the donors choice.
Charles was born on December 18, 1939 to Cliff and Grace Dahline and raised on a small family farm in rural Willmar. He graduated from Willmar High School in 1957. He married his high school sweetheart, Clarice Klint on June 27, 1959 in Kandiyohi, MN. He spent one year at the University of Minnesota before moving to Mankato to open the Pizza Kato. Charles quickly became AKA Pizza Charlie owning and operating the iconic Pizza Kato for 30 years in downtown Mankato. Charles closed the Pizza Kato on January 31, 1988 and retired, kind of. Apparently needing something to do, Charles began driving bus for the City of Mankato and drove bus part time for 25 years before retiring in 2017 at 77 years old. Charles was a long time member at Christ The King Luther Church. He was also a long time member of the Mankato Kiwanis Club.
Charles is survived by his children: Teresa Wright (Dan), Sons Jeff (Dawn), and Corey (Heather); seven grandchildren, Jessica, Katelyn, Nichole, Ashley, Cassandra, Carter and Clarice; Thirteen grandchildren, his special friend Maxine Davis, Sisters Donna Hefte, Carrie VanEpps, Sharon Manley (Vern) and brother Rick (Mary), brother in-law Russel Klint (Sue). He was preceded in death by his wife Clarice, his brother David and his parents.
