Charles “Charile” Daly, 92, of Quincy and formerly of Camden, passed away at 11:51 pm on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.

He was born on September 16, 1932 in Camden, the son of the late Ernest Jesse & Bessie Gladys (White) Daly. After Charlie graduated from High School, he enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Rilea JoAnn Stevens on September 1, 1956, in Clayton and she preceded him in death on December 31, 2009.

Charlie worked as a meat packer at the Oscar Meyer plant for many years until his retirement. In his younger years, Charlie farmed and raised livestock. He was an avid outdoorsman, and he enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing, coon hunting, gardening and bird watching. Charlie liked attending area auctions and he also enjoyed playing cards with friends. He was a member of the Schuyler County American Legion Post #4; a member of the Elks and he was a member of the Camden United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his sons; James Patrick Daly of Mt. Sterling, Jon Michael Daly of Camden & Joseph Kelly Daly of Edina, Missouri, four daughters; Cathy Gena Knous of Beardstown, Cara Lynn Kramer of Quincy, Christy Anne (Pat) McColez of Quincy and Connie Sue Shireman of Winchester, several grandchildren & great grandchildren, a brother; Jerry (Jackie) Daly of Burlington, Wisconsin, two sisters; Judy (Richard) Houser of Rushville & Mary Shenaut of Knoxville and by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Charlie was preceded in death by a daughter; Cindy Brasel and by two brothers; Richard Daly and by a brother in infancy.

In accordance with Charlie’s wishes, he has given his earthly remains to the advancement of anatomical study; especially those researching Huntington’s Disease; a disease that plagued him for the last sixteen years. Memorial services will be held at a later date. The Triplett & Wood Funeral Home of Rushville has been entrusted with the care and arrangements. Memorial contributions in memory of Charlie are suggested to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
