Charles A. Dunbar

Charles A. Dunbar, 78, of Caledonia, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, August 13, 2023. Born March 31, 1945, in Rockford, the son of Arnold T. and Betty (Waufle) Dunbar. He grew up in the Rockford area and was a graduate of East High School. Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Graduate of Northern Illinois University. Chuck was a teacher at East High School until he started his own business, Surface Maintenance Services.
Survived by his wife of 57 years, Judith; children, Jeff (Tammy) Dunbar and Melissa Dunbar; perfect grandsons, Zack, Josh and Nate; siblings, Joanne March and Mark Dunbar; sister-in-law, Marilyn Dunbar; several nieces and nephews; and beloved step -mother, Bette Dunbar. Predeceased by his parents; brother, Robert Dunbar; brother-in-law, Don March; longtime friend and colleague, Arturo Cortinas; and good friend, Aaron Wheeler.
Chuck was quick-witted and liked to make others laugh. He loved spending time with family and friends. Chuck was a devoted grandpa who enjoyed attending his grandsons' sporting events. He will be deeply missed. Our hearts are broken by this unexpected loss. Chuck was one of a kind and to be loved by him was to be truly blessed.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial in Winnebago Cemetery. To share a memory or condolence, please visit olsonfh.com .
