Charles W. Eaton, 79, of Douglass, KS, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025 at home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Douglass, KS. Private burial will take place at a later date at Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Winfield, KS. Charles was born on November 26, 1945 in Shawnee OK. Charles was a man who wore many hats. He was a Christian, a father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, grandson, brother, uncle, soldier, and a friend. He never left home without his hat. He wore each of his hats proudly, always giving love, strength, courage, and friendship. If you knew Charles, you knew about his love for Jesus, his love of family, his love of country, and his love of people, He was easy to know. Charles was always ready to tell you about his military experiences, his life, his love for Jesus, and his opinion. Whatever he did he did it with gusto and full speed ahead loving his own family, his brothers and sisters in arms, and his church families. He believed right is right, wrong is wrong, and gray lines could be considered but rarely observed. Charles wasn't afraid to try anything. While he was quick to tell you about his military career of 34 years and his years at Wichita State University, he was equally proud of his time driving a dump truck and miscellaneous other jobs. Most important to Charles was serving the Lord. Delivering the Sunday sermon at Latham Baptist Church or acting as Chaplain for the American Legion Post 4 and Veteran's Memorial Park gave him the chance to show his strong faith in the power and love of Jesus Christ. But if you said "fishing", "You better have your hat on!" He'd frequently close a conversation with: "Talk at ya later!" and "Blessings and prayers!". What you didn't want to hear at the end of the conversation was simply, "Later". The family and all who knew him will miss him dearly.
