Charles Conn Ewing Jr, affectionately called Chuck or Papa, gave up his long hard fight with cancer on 8.6.24 and went to be with Jesus. Throughout his battle, he was so grateful for the love and support of his family, friends, neighbors, and church family of Woodstock Jasper Church. Chuck prayed daily that his children, and his children's children, would know that Jesus died for their sins and has given eternal life to those who believed in Him.
Chuck met the love of his life, Carol, when they were sixteen years old. They worked together at Colonial Grocery Store in the Toco Hills shopping center in DeKalb County. They were happily married for over 50 years. He leaves behind three sons, Joseph, Michael and Chad; their wives- Lindsay, Karen and Brandi- Five grandchildren- Christin, Jackson, Ashley, Will and Charley and two great grandchildren- Rhett and Reagan, along with an extensive and close family. His hope is that they will love the Lord and embrace a church family.
Chuck's life spanned many careers. He worked at Delta Airlines, was a real estate appraiser and a long-time loan officer. Chuck loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, horseback riding but most of all, Chuck loved his family. His favorite memories were with the grand and great grandkids, pulling fish from the lake or taking rides in his side-by-side. He also liked to travel and enjoy a great meal. He and Carol spent many weekends together on horseback, exploring long trail rides with good company across the Southeast.
Chuck lived faithfully and fully. He was inspirational in the way he dealt with the progression of cancer. He always kept a positive attitude and leaned on his strong faith. When doctors asked his goals, it was to get back on the horse. He had a thankful heart for each day and the many blessings God gave him. Tremendous and heartfelt thanks go out to the doctors, nurses and caregivers.
Chuck will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Chuck's name to Woodstock Church Jasper or your favorite charity. Please cheer with friends and share a few stories (tall tales) of the great Chuck Ewing.
