Charles Joseph Firth
Our hearts are heavy, but we don't grieve without hope.
Charles Joseph Firth (Chas, Dad, Poppers) entered the presence of the Lord and Savior peacefully, with
his family by his side, at his Warminster home on February 2, 2025.
Born in Pottsville, PA on January 13, 1931, to the late Joseph and Genevieve (Faiver) Firth, he was
preceded in death by his oldest brother, James, and his identical twin, Joseph.
Chas graduated from Pottsville Catholic High School in 1949, where he met the love of his life and soul
mate - the late Gertrude "Trudy" Firth. Chas enlisted in the US Navy in 1951 and served until 1955 as an
Aviation Machinist's Mate, Third Class. Chas and Trudy were married in Pottsville, PA on June 12, 1954,
the beginning of 64 years of a long, respectful and adoring life, raising their 5 children in their
Warminster home. Chas and Trudy raised their children by example to be hard working, GOD fearing,
kind, honest and respectable.
Chas had a unique sense of humor which his 5 children inherited. They had many years of fun-loving
laughter and practical jokes within the family.
Chas worked at Fischer and Porter as a quality control supervisor for 31 years, retiring in 1991. Early in
his career, Chas attended Penn State University, taking night classes at the Abington Campus from 1962
till 1965. On the weekends, to help support his family, he worked part time at the William Penn Inn as a
bartender.
Over the years, Chas constructed two additions to his home to support his growing family.
Chas played on Fischer and Porter's men's softball team. He was an avid golfer and helped organize
Fischer and Porter's golf league for many years. He coached little league baseball and supported his
children at all their many activities. Chas was known as the family painter. It is a fact that Chas painted
at least one room in each of his children's homes and some of his grandchildren's.
Chas enjoyed long walks on the beach with Trudy at their Wildwood Crest beach house. They spent
many years enjoying life and making memories with their growing family.
Chas was preceded in death by his beloved wife Trudy, cherished grandson Stephen Umani and
cherished daughter-in-law, Mary DeLeon Firth.
He leaves behind 5 children, Michael (Victoria) of Skippack, Joseph (Tami) of Collegeville, Jack (Janice) of
Abington, Robert of Raleigh, NC, and AnneMarie Umani (John) of Warminster, in addition to 14
grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to join our family in Schneider Funeral Home, 431 N. York Road,
Hatboro, PA on Saturday, February 8, 2025. Visitation will take place from 10:30-11:30am, followed by

"To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven; a time to be born, and a time
to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to
break down, and a time to buildup; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to
dance." - Ecclesiastes 3:1-4
