William Firth

William Lee Firth passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 9, 2025. Born in Norristown on November 16, 1939 he was the beloved grandson to the late Charles H. Freas and Norma E. Freas (Hankins). Upon graduating Norristown Area High School in 1959, Lee went on to Alan Wood Steel Company until 1977. He was also a volunteer driver for West Norriton Ambulance from 1963 until 1978. He drove for Walter's Limousine Service to and from NYC. He then went back to serve at his Alma Mater as a beloved school bus driver for 23 years. He was affectionately known to his riders as "Mr. Lee Bus 46" until his retirement in 2005. Lee enjoyed driving his boat in the bay of Shipbottom, NJ while his children skied and tubed. He also loved watching all of the Philadelphia Sports Teams. As a child, Lee faced many medical hardships as a result of Polio. Despite these adversities, he continued to overcome every hurdle he faced with grit and determination-nothing could stop him! Lee was a hard worker and devoted family man. Lee was a cherished husband of 42 years to Deborah J. Firth (nee Woodruff), loving father to Robyn Firth (Rick), Teri D'Avanzo (Rodney), Gail Williams (James), Justin L. Firth, Ryan Firth (Anna), and Dayna C. Firth, grandfather to 13 and great grandfather to 6, brother to Robert Fry. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Relatives and friends are invited to Lee's Life Celebration on Sunday May 18, 2025 from 10 am to 11:20 am with a time of sharing at 11:30 am all at Boyd Horrox Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike. Interment will be private at a later date. Donations in Lee's memory can be made to his wife for college funds for their grandchildren.
