Charles C. Foster, Jr., of Brick, NJ, passed away peacefully in his home on July 24, 2025, at the age of 99, surrounded by his wife of 76 years, Jean. Born on March 6, 1926, in Orange, New Jersey, Charles was an only child. He lived a full and meaningful life marked by deep integrity, a strong work ethic, and enduring love for his family. As a youth, he grew up in Irvington, NJ and lived through the great depression. During WW 2 he joined the Army Air Corps (now called the US Air Force) at the age of 17. While in the military, Charles achieved the rank of PFC and was a crew chief for B-17 Bombers and P-51 fighters. After leaving the military, Charles continued to maintain and repair airplanes of various types and sizes for civilian contractors. While in his 40's Charles began to teach shop classes in the evening in addition to his regular job. While teaching at night, he was noticed by a school administrator at Metuchen High School. He was offered a position at the high school as a shop teacher, went to night classes at Kean College, and achieved his bachelor's degree at the age of 52. Charles proceeded to teach until he retired at the age of 67.

In 1949, Charles married his sweetheart, Jean, and they soon began to raise a family of 5 children. After a few years, they moved to the Jersey Shore and settled in Point Pleasant, where they lived for over 40 years. They later moved to Brick, NJ where their home is now.

Charles was known for his ability to build and fix almost anything and for his endless energy. In his spare time, he would work on large and small projects around the house and on his cars. After he retired, Charles took up golf and sunk a hole-in-one at the age of 84. Charles and Jean would also take vacations in Vero Beach Florida where they would remain as 'snow birds' for 3 months and visit with friends and their son Jim and his family in Florida. Charles especially loved taking the family to Disney World and all the fun there. Charles always loved spending time with his family.

While living in Point Pleasant, Charles and family were members of the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church. When they moved to Brick, they joined Ocean County Baptist Church, where Charles accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Charles was an avid Bible reader and loved to read about Bible prophesy. His mind was sharp right up to the end. He will be greatly missed.

Charles was predeceased by his loving parents, Charles Sr and Hazel Foster. He leaves behind his grieving wife of 76 years, Jean, and 5 adult children – Jim, Steve, Tom, Jack and Sue as well as 9 grandchildren – Jennifer, Joanne, Joel, Steve Jr., Kathleen, Erin, Matt, Cole and Jared and 6 great grandchildren – Charlie, Violet, Harvey, Jackson, Arden and Duke.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Chapel located in the Arneytown Veteran Cemetery located at 50 Province Line Road Wrightstown, NJ 08562 at 11 Am on Friday, August 1, 2025.

Repass will be at 12:30 pm at Ocean County Baptist Church 1380 Old Freehold Rd, Toms River 08753 in the gym.

Condolences can be sent to Mrs. Jean Foster at 100 Yorkwood Dr in Brick, NJ 08723.
