Charles “Pappy” Fuson, age 91, of rural Celina, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 23, 1934, in Pruden, Tennessee, to the late Luster and Maude (Browning) Fuson. On October 30, 1954, he married the love of his life, Norma Jean (Luginbill) Fuson. They were blessed to share 70 wonderful years together, and she survives at their home.
Pappy is also survived by his children, Randy (Deb) Fuson of Lima, Darrell (Terri) Fuson of Celina, Charlene (Gary) Gibson of St. Marys, and Cheryl Lacey of Rockford; a daughter-in-law, Karen Fuson of Rockford; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Janie (Tony) Spicer of Celina, Phyllis Keasler of Nashville, Tennessee, Jerry (Ruth) Fuson of Frakes, Kentucky, and Ed (Vonda) Fuson of Silver, Kentucky; a brother-in-law, Oscar Fields, Nashville, Tennessee; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Fuson, and Thelma Fuson, both of Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Fuson; infant twins, Ronnie and Connie; a granddaughter-in-law, Becky Fuson; and his brothers and sisters, Ruby (Troy) Jones, Mildred (Auldric) Fields, Ruth (Coleman) Fields, Mabel Fields, Kathleen Partin, Philip Fuson, Alfred Fuson, Earl (Geneva) Fuson, and Lonnie (Gloria) Fuson.
Pappy retired after 42 years of dedicated service with Mersman Tables in Celina. He was a faithful member of Samaria Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and lived his life as a true soldier of the Lord.
He had a love for bluegrass music and often wrote songs to share with his children and grandchildren. To his family, he wasn’t just a grandfather—he was “Pappy,” a name carried with love. Known for his warm heart and kind spirit, he never met a stranger, and his presence brought joy to everyone who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina, with Pastor Jordan Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Buck Cemetery in Celina.
