Harold Wayne Fuson, 89 of West Peoria passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
He was born in Peoria, IL on April 29, 1936, a proud son of Alvin and Blanch Douthit Fuson. He married Judith Salrin in 1964, who survives him along with their daughter Theresa Fuson of Laura, IL and their son, Scott (Suzanne) Fuson of Bloomington, IN. Other survivors include Hal's grandchildren, Paige Carter, and her sons, Noah and Oliver of West Peoria. Also surviving are grandson Adam Hurst, Alexis (Stefan Coonan) and their son Mason, as well as Zach (Kacie) Fuson.
Hal was preceded in death by his brother Albert, son James Fuson and daughter Sharon Hurst.
Hal graduated from Manual High School in 1954 and then Milliken University where he as an all American offensive end. He completed his master's degree at Bradley University. Hal was a teacher of history at Manual and Limestone High Schools where he coached football, wrestling and track at both schools. Hal was a head football coach at Manual High School coaching in many of the annual Turkey Day Games which concluded in 1973. At Limestone he was head coach for their football team as well as their wrestling team. Hal was a former parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a current parishioner at St. Ann Catholic Church.
Visitation will be at St. Ann Catholic Church on Friday, May 16, 2025 between the hours of 3:00 PM and 6:00 M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 10:00 AM with an additional visitation one hour prior. Father Jeremy Freehill will officiate, and graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
Preferred memorials in Hal's memory may be made to The Sisters of St. Francis on the Immaculate Conception, 2408 W. Heading Avenue, West Peoria, Il 61604 or St. Ann Catholic Church.

So sorry to hear about Mr. Fuson's passing. He was definitely one of my favorite teachers. I saw him at the the civic center a few times and he always remembered me.

Mr. Fusion was my favorite teacher at Manual, I can still see him holding a can of soda in his hands saying " don´t you wish u could one" But he also taught very well and I did learn in his class. Glad he lived a long life. Great Man Tom Hibser

Mr Fuson was the reason why I studied History in college. I never got the chance to tell him that. I´m sure he would have been quite surprised that A) I went to college, or that B) I studied History. Thanks, coach. And God speed.
