Mr. Charles David Gibson, 81, died Sunday, August 17, 2025, at his home in Abbeville, MS. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gibson was born on September 8, 1943, in Potts Camp, MS to the late Emmett Cecil and Jennie Elizabeth Vaughn Gibson. Charles served as Sergeant for the National Guard. He retired after a long and successful career as chief of human resources with Corps of Engineers.

In 1984, Charles married the love of his life, Elizabeth Ellen Long. They spent 41 wonderful years together, building a beautiful life filled with adventure. They were inseparable companions, and their shared a passion for travel that took them all across the country in their beloved RV, creating countless cherished memories along the way.

A lifelong and avid Ole Miss fan, Charles was dedicated to cheering on his favorite team. When he wasn't watching a game or on the road, he found peace and joy in the simple pleasure of yardwork and gardening. Charles was a devoted dog dad to his Weimaraner dog, Monty.

Mr. Gibson is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Ellen Long Gibson; two sons, Christopher David Gibson (Vickie) of Belgrade, MT, and Charles Gregory Gibson (Melanie) of Dayton, OH; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
