Charles Joseph Gillette

Charles Joseph Gillette, 74, of Fort White, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on June 9, 1951 to the late Paul Gillette and Betty Bearce Gillette. He has made Fort White his home for the last nine years, moving here from Georgia. He was a US Army Veteran and also worked for the New Jersey State Police for 25 years, retiring in 2002 as a Sergeant; then worked for the Pickens County Sheriff's Office in Georgia, retiring in 2017 after 10 years of service. He was a member of the Ephesus Advent Christian Church in Branford; and was also a member of the Cherry Hill Masonic Lodge #12. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting marbles, watching youtube videos, going to the shooting range, loved telling stories, volunteering with the local food drives and cheering on his daughter in the band. He is preceded in death by his sister, Merrilee.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 18 years, Melissa Gillette; sons, Paul Gillette (Ashley) and Asher Gillette; daughters, Kelly Maki (Rick), Patricia Holcombe – Sutherland (Brian), Rebecca Gillette Mellifont and Carley Gillette; brothers, Danny Gillette (Martha) and Scott Gillette (Anita); sisters, Debbie Gillette, Candy Cornell (Rich), Joyce Brown and Darlene Waldorf; and his adopted son, Chad Carvalho. Five grandchildren, Alyssa, Jeremy, Connor, Elizabeth and Thaddeus; along with several great-grandchildren also survive.
A funeral service for Mr. Gillette will be conducted on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 4:00 P.M. in the Ephesus Advent Christian Church, 9959 SE County Road 405, Branford, FL, 32008, with Pastor Randy Henderson, Jr., officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 3:00 P.M. prior to the service at the church.
