Charles Glaser Obituary

Charles Thomas ("Tom") Glaser, 71, passed away on August 19th surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of forty-one years, Jane Glaser, his cherished daughter, Molly Sneed (Shay) who is expecting his first grandchild (Grace), and his favorite sister, Nancy Shellenberger (Gary).

Born on June 25, 1954 to Albert and Hazel Glaser, Tom was a proud, lifelong Memphian. He attended St. John's Catholic School, St. Paul's Catholic School, Bishop Byrne High School, and Memphis State University. He was an avid Tiger football fan and a long-time member of the Highland Hundred Club, serving as a past president. His love for Memphis football was only rivaled by his love of all things cooking. Tom loved nothing more than hosting a backyard pool party and cooking a feast of BBQ and ribs. He also participated in the Memphis Italian Festival on the Cardamone Cafe cooking team for twenty years.

Cooking was not only a passion but also his love language. He loved meeting new people and always welcomed the opportunity to share whatever he was cooking that week as a means of building new friendships. Family, friends, and even new acquaintances can attest that his true passion was cooking spaghetti gravy. A labor of love, his spaghetti gravy, was a Glaser family staple. A daunting culinary task which he entrusted to his son-in-law, Shay Sneed.

Tom was the life of the party, with a quick wit and a prank always up his sleeve, but was ever ready to lend a helping hand. He was truly a special man and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the charity of the donor's choice.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, August 24th at Canale Funeral Directors (2700 Union Extended, Memphis, TN 38112). A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 25th at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (1695 Central Avenue, Memphis, TN 38104).
