Charles Ray Goodson, 81 passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on April 14, 2025. He was born September 07, 1943 to Charles and Donna Goodson in Wichita, KS.
Charles was a devoted family man and friend to all. A devoted husband of 51 years, he shared an unwavering bond with his wife, Carol. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Charles built a life centered around the things and people he loved most. Whether he was cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, reminiscing at a local car show, hanging out at the lake fishing, enjoying family outings, supporting his grandkids or getting the thrill of professional wrestling. Charles found joy in life's simple pleasures and shared that joy with everyone around him. He will be remembered not only for his passions but for his steady presence, warm heart and unwavering commitment to his family. His legacy lives on in the stories told, the memories made and the lives he touched.
Charles was known for his warm heart, his generosity, and his ability to make everyone feel at ease. Whether he was hosting a family gathering or sharing a laugh with a friend, his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Donna Goodson; his mother and father-in-law Huleta and Toney Dowell; five brothers; three sisters and one niece and nephew.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Carolyn; children, Zyarey Goodson, Dalena (Felix) Mar, Shane Goodson, Connswilla (Gerrian) Green, Shawn Slover, David (Christy) Abel, 26 Grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Visitation is 6:00-8:00pm Monday, April 21 and funeral service is at noon on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, both at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road, Derby, KS 67037. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Charles, please visit our floral store.
