Linda Evelyn Wenman, 72, passed away July 10, 2025. She was born August 05, 1952 to Kenneth and Evelyn Wenman in London, England.
Preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her daughters, Paula Muthomi, Jennifer Michael Timmons) Moen; siblings, Christopher (Geraldine) Wenman, Margaret (Steve) Hall, Christine (Jim) Horning; grandchildren; Christopher, Raymond, Elizabeth, great-grandchildren, Ava and Kailynn and nephew Garry (Travis Jones) Wenman.
Linda grew up in London and first moved to the United States in 1975. That was Linda's first ever flight and she made it with 2 young children, in heels wearing a dress and coat. She had trained as a Chef in England, where she once cooked for then Prince Charles, and she continued working in the food industry in the States. She started as a Bus Person clearing tables in the officers club at McConnell as that was all they had when she applied and Linda's response was "Well I've never driven a bus but I will give it a try" She ended her career as Director of Dining Services for Via Christi hospitals in Wichita where she introduced the room service concept for the patients that is still used today under Touchpoint Support Services.
The food service industry in Wichita knew Chef Linda well, she worked with Antoine Toubi at Piccadilly restaurant and at the Marriot Hotel. At food shows here and in Kansas City everyone would try to get her attention and her business.
Linda had the best sense of humor and was the most generous person with her time and mentoring at work and her friends and family at home. Over the years she had so many people live with her and be taken care of by her. The rest of the family moved over at different times with her sponsorship and support. We all became citizens as well and love this country as much as she did. As siblings we all enjoyed a love of Motown music and she loved to go to concerts and live theatre. She enjoyed puzzles and reading and recently had lost some of her sight and was unable to do that until she visited Envision and they helped her do those things again.
She was a fighter and a determined warrior, her whole life whenever she was knocked down she would get up with a smile and fight on. Her last battle was just too much for her and she is gone too soon. We all have the lives we have today because of Linda and will miss her beyond measure.
Memorial service is 1:00pm Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road,
