Gray, Charles "Charlie" B. 10/12/1927 - 3/21/2021 Charles of Ann Arbor, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 21, 2021 surrounded by his family. Born in Laurium, MI on October 12, 1927, the son of Charles W. and Wilmot. Charles served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1945-1947 as a fireman on a ship in the North Atlantic. He returned to Ann Arbor and worked as a glazier for many years. He was co-founder of Michigan Glass Company. He also had many hobbies including working on cars, gardening, bowling, and he served as referee for hockey games and umpire for softball games. Charles was also a member of the Ann Arbor Moose Lodge and Grotto. Charles was a huge U of M sports enthusiast and he enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, and storytelling. Charles is survived by his three children, Bob (Sarah) Gray, Deborah (Walter) Korican, and Sherri Young; eight grandchildren, Angela (Jeffrey) Girton, Charles (Kimberly) Gray, Robert (Caroline) Gray, Carla Gray, Eleanor (Josh) Graham, Sofia (Eric) Warren, Wesley (Stephanie) Korican, and Bradley (Jenn) Korican; ten great-grandchildren, Audrey Girton, Arlo, Peri and Clara Gray, Jordan, Katherine, and Aaron Warren, Henry Graham, and Sophia and Riley Korican. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Joyce; his parents; and his sister, Beverly Shilling. Memorial contributions may be made in Charles's honor to Trinity Health at Home by mail to 17410 College Parkway, Suite 150, Livonia, MI 48152 or online here at https://donate.trinityhealthathome.org/. A gathering will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Nie Family Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor, Michigan, 48103 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm for family and friends to rotate through. Due to COVID-19, the funeral home is allowed to receive up to 25 guests during the gathering hours. Please be aware that you may be asked to wait until guests have left the funeral home to enter as we follow COVID-19 guidelines. Face masks are required. A memorial service will take place Friday, March 26, 2021 at 2:00 pm. While the service will be private for the immediate family only to attend in person, it will be available for viewing online through a link on his tribute page at www.niefuneralhomes.com under the Photos & Video Tab or visit The Nie Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services Facebook page to watch the live stream.
