Charles "Chuck" Gregg was born on July 1, 1930, in Lawrence, Kansas. He studied architecture at the University of Kansas. In 1954, he married Janilon Clawson in Salt Lake City, and they had three children: Virginia, Timothy, and Nancy. Throughout his 24 years in the USAF, he served at multiple duty stations, including Strategic Air Command (SAC) Headquarters in Omaha, where, as a graphic artist, he prepared slides and graphics for presidential briefings for JFK, Nixon, and LBJ. His overseas assignment was Elmendorf AFB in 1968. Chuck retired on December 31, 1974, as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was active in the Masons, the Shrine, and the Eastern Star in Alaska. He was a superb craftsman and an expert in many trades, earning a reputation as the go-to person for removing buried fuel storage tanks throughout southcentral Alaska. After Jan's death, he married Glenna Case and moved to Red Bluff, California, where he built irrigation systems for Glenna's walnut farm. They relocated to Ava, Missouri, where he built a custom home and a horse barn on 35 acres with a trout stream. After Glenna's death, he married Janna Stewart, a longtime Anchorage neighbor, in 2007. They moved to Tacoma, Washington, where he did the finishing work on a custom home where they lived for many years. Chuck loved dogs, often stating that wherever he went next, there must be dogs. He is survived by his wife, Janna Stewart; daughters Nancy King (Tim) and Virginia Henderson; grandchildren Paul, Pam, John, and Mary; and great-grandsons Caleb and Eli. He was preceded in death by his son Timothy, who passed away in 2001. Chuck died peacefully after a short illness on February 5, 2025.

I never met Chuck in person, but I loved him from the stories about him, and photos his friends shared with me. He was a good, kind, gentle, loving man-a RARE man. Even though we never met in person, his absence will be felt.

The earth feels a little quieter without your voice. Your stories-filled with laughter, inspiration, and wisdom-were a gift I will forever cherish. Though we met only a relatively short time ago, our connection feels lifelong, and I am grateful for every moment shared. Your kindness, warmth, and heart of gold touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing you. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit lives on in the memories and lessons you've left behind. Rest in peace. "uncle" Chuck.
