Charles W. Hall, age 80, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Stearns Nursing Rehab Center in Granite City, IL. Charles was born on September 23, 1945, in Carbondale, IL, the son of the late Dr. Edward E. & Eva M. (Walter) Hall. Charles married Judith A. (Phillips) Hall on November 14, 1964, in Golconda, IL. Besides his wife of 60 years, Charles is survived by a son, Thomas E. Hall & wife Kim, of Glen Carbon, IL; two grandsons, Matthew Hall and Joshua Hall. Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward E. Hall, Jr. and James P. Hall; and a sister, Helen M. Stafford. Charles was a retired police officer for the City of Edwardsville. He started his career as a patrolman in 1967 and worked his way up through the ranks. Eventually retiring after 35 years of service in 2002 as Deputy Chief with the rank of Major. Charles enjoyed woodworking and fishing. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. A private graveside service will be held at Buck Road Cemetery in Maryville, IL with Rev. Grant Armstrong presiding. The family suggests memorials to the Metro East Humane Society.
