Charles Hayward, 69, of the Alpine House in Fremont, OH passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Countryside Manor in Fremont. Charles was born on October 21, 1955 to Harry and Lela (Vermett) Hayward in Toledo, OH. He was a 1973 graduate of Bowsher High School. He received his master’s in education from the University of Toledo.
Charles was an Elementary Teacher at Hayes Elementary for Fremont City Schools for 20 years and retired in 1999. He was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed the community theatre, puzzles and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes Fan.
Charles is survived by his children, Michelle Ickes and Stephen Hayward; grandson, Hunter Simpkins; six great grandchildren; sisters, Phylis Brown and Tina Reider; friend of many years, Betty and Randy Lewis.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Hayward.
A celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 831 Smith Rd., Fremont, OH 43420.
Memorials can be made in Charles’ memory to American Diabetes Association.
