Robinson-Walker Funeral Home – Oak HarborSteven “Steve” Swope, beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025. Born in Fremont, Ohio, Steve was the eldest of five siblings and a proud graduate of the University of Toledo, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in manufacturing and mechanical engineering.
Steve lived a life full of passion and joy. A true sports enthusiast, he cheered for OSU, all the Cleveland teams, as well as enjoying racing. He found peace under the stars and happiness in the great outdoors. He loved traveling to warmer climates but also spending time in his own yard.
Music was one of Steve’s greatest joys. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of rock songs from the '70s, '80s, and '90s and loved attending concerts with his children. His enthusiasm for life extended to his regular casino visits, his mastery at the grill, and the joy he found in preparing his treasured Christmas lasagna.
Steve met the love of his life, Terri, and they married three years later, celebrating 43 wonderful years together this past February. He was a devoted family man who cherished his children and grandchildren deeply. His home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the companionship of beloved pets, including Bella, his Old English Sheepdog, and Buttercup, the stray cat who adopted Steve and became his “guard kitty.”
Steve is survived by his wife, Terri; children, Adam Swope, Lindsay (Justin) Emrich, and Alexander (Michelle) Swope; grandchildren, Rhett and Emma Emrich, and Parker Swope; mother, Janet (Robert) Dorr; siblings, Amy Huckaby, Scott (Lesley) Swope, Emily (Scott) Riley, and Mathew Dorr. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Swope.
Steve’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and loyalty. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him
