Charles David Holmes was sent to his forever home on July 9th, 2025 at the age of 63. Born in Dover, Delaware, on September 11, 1961, David was a twin and named after his paternal grandfather. He was the son of Gene and Lois Holmes.

David graduated from Coffee County Central High School in 1980. He pursued higher education at Crowley's Ridge College in Paragould, Arkansas, and subsequently earned his degree from Freed Hardeman University. For 26 years, he dedicated his professional life to the Bridgestone Plant in Morrison, Tennessee. David had a wide array of passions, including hunting, fishing, and metal detecting, and he was an avid collector, with a notable interest in Civil War relics. A self-taught guitarist, he possessed the remarkable ability to read sheet music. His deep faith was evident in his love for his church, where he often led music. In recent times, he found joy in taking his dog, Jeb, to the local dog park, where he cultivated cherished friendships.

David was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ollie and Lena Ferrell; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Bessie Holmes; and his brother, Everett Holmes. He is survived by his loving parents, Gene and Lois Holmes; his brothers, Harlan (Stacey) Holmes and Craig Holmes; and his sister, Tamela Sadler. He also leaves behind his nieces, Sydney (Matt) Barham and Emma Grace Holmes; and his nephews, CJ (Reese) Holmes, Corey (Brittany) Holmes, Zakary (Anabelle) Holmes, Taylor Holmes, Grayson Holmes, Shawn Holmes, Garrett (Sabrina) Sadler, and Grant Sadler, as well as numerous great-nieces and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 27th, at 2:00 PM at Hickerson Station Church of Christ, located at 4566 Old Manchester Highway, Tullahoma, TN 37388. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hickerson Station Church of Christ.
