Charles Lee Hosey Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather passed away on Saturday, July 19, at his home in Panama City Beach at the age of 81. Born to Charles Lee Hosey Sr. and Cora Rita Bowman Hosey, Charlie lived a life marked by love, dedication, deep faith, and strong commitment to his family.

A proud U.S. Navy Seabee, Charlie faithfully served his country with honor and skill, including service in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. After his military service, he worked for Sheet Metal Local 80 in Detroit, Michigan, dedicating over 40 years of hard work and craftsmanship. His passions extended beyond his career-he had a remarkable talent for working with his hands. Whether creating beautiful pieces of jewelry, tending to his garden, or repairing and building with precision and care, Charlie brought creativity and excellence to everything he touched. Charlie was a passionate Michigan sports fan, faithfully cheering on the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, and University of Michigan football.

A proud member of VFW Post 4164, he served on the Honor Guard-one of his greatest honors. Known for his vast knowledge of history, Charlie was someone you could sit with for hours, captivated by his stories and insights. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a kind and generous heart, and a humble spirit that allowed others to take center stage. His quiet strength, deep faith, and wisdom left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Ann Marie (Tank) Hosey; his cherished son, Scott Richard Hosey of Las Vegas, Nevada; and his granddaughter, Tabitha Hosey, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Leigh Brown of Inlet Beach, Florida, Aaron (Sara) Hess of Montrose, Michigan, and Liz (Lenny) Huyghe of Millington, Michigan; step-grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Joel) Lohsen, Lauren Brown, Devan (Emily) Hess, Nicholas Hess, Jayda Hess, and Brandon Huyghe; and step-great-grandchildren, Noah Jean Lohsen, Olyver Hess, and Linkin Hess.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9th at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1001 W. 17th St., Panama City, FL 32401. Fellowship will take place at 11:00 AM with services beginning at 12 noon with Pastor Paul McComack officiating. Inurnment services will be held at 2:30 pm Friday, September 26, 2025 at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan with Full Navy Honors.

He walked faithfully with the Lord, sharing his love for Christ through his actions rather than his words, and will be remembered for his kindness and his constant willingness to lend a helping hand.
