William Vernon Cammack, 66, of
Panama City, Florida, passed away at home on July 22, 2025.
William was born on July 23, 1958, in Andalusia, Alabama, to John Hybart and Betty Faye (Jernigan) Cammack. He grew up in Andalusia and was a 1976 graduate of Andalusia High School.
Following in his father's footsteps, having a passion and gift as a builder, he pursued a lifelong career as a State Certified General Contractor. He owned Cammack Construction in
Panama City, Florida, for over 35 years and worked in new custom homes, remodeling, and commercial buildings and condominiums. William was a unique General Contractor, as he was also known for his mastery in trim carpentry and most areas of construction and carpentry. In his early years he performed both the contractor duties and all the carpentry, including framing. William had a professional reputation of being one of the best quality builders in Panama City. His ability to create and handle complex designs became a passion in remodeling and renovations of existing homes. The effects of Hurricane Michael were a testament to the quality of homes and businesses that William built, as all his prior homeowners informed him that their homes only sustained minimal to no damages, despite the catastrophic Category V hurricane.
William was known for his integrity, honesty, hard work ethic, and his generosity to help others. A devoted husband and father, William treasured and took care of his family. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and the outdoors, but his true passion was spending time with his family and helping others in need.
William is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sue, and his son, Blake, of
Panama City, FL; his brother, Walter Cammack, Andalusia, AL; sisters, Carol Cope (Tony), Auburn, AL and Diane Weant (Ferrell) Dozier, AL; his mother-in-law, Jane Mathieu; brother-in-law, Ken Mathieu (Leigh), Bill Mathieu, Michael Mathieu (Mary Liz) and sister-in-law, Michele Dorr (Michael), all of
