Charles Houston Obituary
BEVERLY - Charles J. Houston, 97 of Beverly, beloved husband of the late Lorraine (Pelletier) Houston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Brentwood in Danvers surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late James A. and Adele (Goodrich) Houston. He was raised and educated in Beverly and was a graduate of the Briscoe Trade School where he was educated in electrical, mechanical and plumbing, skills he proudly utilized for the rest of his life.
Very proud to be a heavy equipment mechanic, he spent over 25 years working at Hood Milk. He was not only a dedicated employee but also a proud driver of a big rig tractor trailer, showcasing his commitment to his craft and family. Charles purchased land from Hood Milk, where he and his beloved wife Lorraine, to whom he was married for 65 wonderful years, built wonderful memories with their children riding the Hood Milk horses.
A jack of all trades, Charles had a unique talent for fixing anything that crossed his path. He was most proud to have helped build the very house that he and Lorraine purchased when they were first married and had raised a family. His extraordinary skills were best exemplified in his passion for racing cars. He built four race cars and raced across New England and Canada, where he made lasting friendships and treasured memories. Charles loved spending time in the garage, where he found joy and solace.
Surviving Charles are his daughters, Gail Johnson of Beverly, Janet Coane of Raymond, New Hampshire, and Charlotte Houston of South Carolina, his grandchildren, Kevin and Brenda Johnson, and Charity Houston-Arte along with his five great-grandchildren.
