Charles W. Kallay, known affectionately to many as "Ski" or "Skee," passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, at the UH Geauga Medical Center in Chardon, Ohio. Ski was born on November 11, 1942, in Conneaut, Ohio to his late parents, Charles James Kallay and Margaret Louise (nee: Wanda) Kallay.
Ski proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. Following his service, he embarked on a successful career as a telecommunications engineer with Ohio Bell and then AT&T. He continued working as a consultant for many years after retirement.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Ski was passionate about woodworking and antiquing, a testament to his appreciation for craftsmanship and history. As a history buff, he cherished the stories embedded within the artifacts of the past-a love he shared with all who knew him.
His memory will be forever cherished by his devoted daughters, Christine (Robin Fonseca) Kallay and Deanna Kallay; his treasured granddaughter, Brietta Moon Hillwig; his adoring partner Marilyn Bianche; his steadfast brothers, John, Thomas, and Daniel Kallay; and his loving sisters, Karen Kallay and Theresa McHugh; and his former spouse, Monna Kallay. Ski was preceded in death by his beloved son, Charles Jared Kallay, and his brothers, Ronald and Timothy Kallay.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. until the memorial service at noon at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio 44077. Interment of ashes will follow with military honors in Riverside Cemetery, Painesville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary Painesville parish via Catholic Charities Diocese of Cleveland. https://www.ccdocle.org/support-us/donate-online
