Andre' M. Kallay, 62, of New Hartford, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Andre', a first generation American was born in Terrytown, NY on March 28, 1961. He was the son of Tibor and Erika (Trojan) Kallay.
He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Utica College of Syracuse University where he was an all-star basketball player for both schools. On August 30, 1986 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, he was united in marriage to Rene' M. Place and shared nearly 38 years together.
Andre' was employed by Hill & Markes, Inc., as a territorial sales manger for nearly 20 years. Andre' was recognized for his excellence and interpersonal communication skills. Andre' had a special way of building relationships with his co-workers and customers who will miss him dearly.
Andre' had a kind soul and an infectious personality, you could not help but to be drawn to him. He had a unique way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved. Andre' was a true family man who went above and beyond to share his wisdom, family values, and his whole heart.
Andre' adored his grandchildren, Andre' and Adrian, more than anything in his life. He also enjoyed taking time to travel and vacation with his wife, family, and friends. Andre' absolutely loved animals, especially his dogs Roscoe and Molly, and his fur-grandbabies.
Andre' had a passion for golf and the camaraderie that comes with the sport. He enjoyed playing at different courses and especially golfing with his son Kris. He loved all sports, and was a faithful fan of the New York Yankees, Syracuse University, and his Dallas Cowboys.
Surviving are his wife Rene'; daughter Kayla Kallay (Daniel Lichorowic) of Utica, son and daughter-in-law, Kristopher and Emily Kallay of Cassville, his adoring grandchildren, Andre' and Adrian; his mother-in-law, Mary Jane Place, of Utica, former son-in-law, Alejandro Gonzalez of Clinton; a sister Judith Alexovich of St. Petersburg, FL.; a brother, Tamas Ugray of Toronto, Canada; his aunt, Jenifer Orlando of Utica, an uncle Edward Pilawa of Chesapeake, VA;, his niece, Barbara Decker, of St. Petes Beach, FL., many cousins including, Tracy (Patrick) Fiore of Clifton Park and Marlo (Frank) Ward of Utica; Godchildren, Britt Yearby, Jr. and Nina Wright.
He is also survived by his "brother from another mother" and life long friend of over 50 years, Britt (Bonnie) Yearby, Sr., and numerous friends including, Joe Yearby, John Ehlinger, Michael Collea, Michael Schoemaker, Michael Metcalf, Joe Busa, Nick Arcuri, Mark Petronella, and many more.
He was predeceased by his parents, Tibor and Erika Kallay, his father-in-law, Frank J. "Tyke" Place and his uncle, Alfonso J. "Al" Orlando.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM from Mary, Mother of Savior Parish (Our Lady of Lourdes Campus) 2222 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13502. The family will receive friends at the conclusion of Mass. Entombment in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to a local animal shelter of your choice in Andre's memory.
