In Loving Memory of Charles (Sonny) Stanley Komer
August 28, 1940 – September 29, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Sonny Komer, who left this world surrounded by love and cherished memories.
Born on August 28, 1940, in Washington County, Pennsylvania, he spent his formative years in Portsmouth, Virginia, where he became a standout athlete at Cradock High School, excelling in both football and baseball. His passion for sports was matched only by his dedication to hard work and family.

He built a successful career with PPG Industries as a Regional Sales Manager before pursuing his entrepreneurial spirit and opening his own business, Paint Supply. His work ethic and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike.

A true outdoorsman, he found joy and peace in nature-whether hunting in the woods or casting a line on a quiet lake or spending a sunny afternoon on the golf course, a sport he deeply loved. He was also deeply committed to his community, serving as President of the Catholic Club, where he fostered fellowship and service.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Naomi and Wallace Komer. He is survived by his devoted sister Beverly Morgan; his three children, Mark Komer (Lynn), Beth Fuller (Don), and Ray Komer; and his four grandchildren, Lauren Komer, Haley Komer, Rebecca Davis, and Dillon Davis (fiancée Maddie). He also leaves behind his niece Kristin Mateo (Sue), nephew Kevin Morgan (Mary), and a wide circle of friends who were touched by his warmth and generosity.

To know him was to love him. He was the sweetest, kindest man in the world, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled. His legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The world is a darker place without him, but we find comfort in the light he brought to our lives and the memories we will carry forever.

Arrangements are with Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. 3rd Street, Wendell, NC 27591, www.stricklandfuneral.com.
