Charles Ritchey Lathrem

Charles Ritchey Lathrem, husband of Vernia Goldey Lathrem passed away at Baptist Health Lexington, Kentucky on May 13, 2025. He was born in Versailles, KY on October 24, 1931 to the late Carl Joseph and Sallie Gray Eaves Lathrem. He was a graduate of Midway High School and of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin after 4 years. He retired from the Woodford Bank and Trust Co., (now Community Trust Bank) as President and CEO after 46 years. After retirement he served as Chairman of the Local Board of Directors of the Community Trust Bank for twenty years. He was a member of Versailles Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, was a member of Fellowship Sunday School Class and 50+ Senior Group where he enjoyed taking trips with Shockey Tours all over the United States and Canada. He also enjoyed boating and camping for many years.
He and his wife of more than sixty-eight years were married on June 16, 1956 at Glen's Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Pamela Lathrem Goins, Frankfort, and three grandchildren: Kayla Goins (Austin) Johnson, Versailles, Timothy Jordan Goins, (Kelli) Lexington, and Charles Brayden Goins, Frankfort, and two great-grandchildren: Nathaniel Gregory Johnson and Noah Austin Johnson. He is also survived by three nephews: Carl Benjamin Lathrem, Hopkinsville, Charles Joseph Lathrem, Versailles, and Michael Douglas Lathrem, Carmel, Indiana.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Douglas Lathrem, and niece Jeannie Lathrem.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Versailles Cemetery where pallbearers will be Timothy Jordan Goins, Charles Brayden Goins, Austin Johnson, Carl Benjamin Lathrem, Charles Joseph Lathrem, and Michael Lathrem
