Mr. Charles Lawler, lovingly known as "Just Charles and Pa Pa", was born August 8, 1942 in Talladega, AL. He was the son of the late David Lawler and Mary Etta (Swain) Lawler. At the age of 80, Charles was peacefully laid to rest at his residence with his children by his side. He was the first sibling to graduate from High School in 1961 from West Side High in Talladega. Following graduation, he moved to Michigan to join his family and secure employment. Later he met and married his lifelong love and best friend, the late Shirley Lawler on January 5,1965. The marriage lasted for 37 years but their bond carried on til the end. Charles retired from General Motors after 27 years of service. He became a member of the Rose of Sharon Lodge #4 in 1993 where he rose to become ranked to the 32nd degree by the Detroit Consistory #1.
Charles was full of life and loved everyone he encountered. He touched those around him with his "Lawler Charm". He loved his family and took pleasure in spending quality time often saying "Family is Everything". He showed it in many ways affectionately making late night or early morning calls or visits with a horn honk after few "cocktails" especially to his brother, John D. He was a master of giving those around him a nickname, such as the one for his daughter "Christmas". He enjoyed going to the " Spot Under the Tree" to hang with his close friends including Bob and Dixon. Mr. Charles Lawler leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Evangela D. Lawler; son, Charles D.
