August 8, 1950 - October 5, 2025
Charles Maher of Dillsboro, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at the age of 75.
A devoted father, brother, grandfather, and friend, Charles is survived by his son, Matt Maher, and his stepdaughter, Hollie (Casey) Stoops. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his 10 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Charles is also survived by his beloved siblings: Charlotte (John) Willis, Mike (Chris) Maher, Stephanie (Jim) Pegg, and Colleen (Cleveland) Hudspeth; cousins that were very special and dear to his heart, Tracy and Ben Maher. His best friend, Tina Smith and Cecil Spaulding, held a special place in his heart, as did his extended family: Lance Holtgel (Ashley), Heather, Andrew, Ainslee, Paxton, and Kavyn Adams, Kayley, Kody, Maggie Holston Harmison, and RJ Clark. He is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and dear friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Elizabeth Maher; his daughters, Christina Maher and Kim Barrett; his sister, Judy Azzopardi; and his sister and brother-in-law, Debbie (Jay) Breier.
A skilled self-employed carpenter, Charles took great pride in his work and was known for his craftsmanship, quiet strength, and dedication to those he loved.
At this time, no funeral services are scheduled. In honor of Charles, donations can be made to St. Elizabeth Edgewood Hospital.
Charles will be remembered for his strong spirit, generous heart, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.
