Charles Richard Mattingly, 82, of Des Arc, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Campbell Heathcare and Senior Living in Campbell, Missouri.
He was born November 5, 1942 in Oran, Missouri, to Irvan Charles Mattingly and Ethel Marie (Richardson) Mattingly. On June 5, 1981, he married Norma Clayton in Cape Girardeau.
Charles was a longtime resident of Des Arc. He joined the United Staes Navy on February 1, 1965. He was a Lifetime Member of VFW of Cape Girardeau, Lifetime Member of the NRA, Lifetime Member of the Seabee's of America, and a lifelong Republican. He especially loved to spend time with his family.
Charles is survived by his loving wife Norma; one son, Richard Crossen; one daughter Shannon Wargo; five grandchildren, Kenneth Green, Aaron Wargo, Zachary Wargo, Brittany Crossen, and Alex Crossen; and one great grandchild, Bishop Wargo. Charles is proceeded in death by his parents, Irvan and Ethel Mattingly; one brother Terry Mattingly; and one sister and brother-in-law Eileen (Jim) Mattingly. A host of family and friends survive.
Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. November 18, 2024, at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. November 18, 2024, at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery of Bloomfield.
