Charles Joseph "Chuck" McGeehan III, a lifelong resident of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, at the age of 84.

Born on November 3, 1940, to Charles J. McGeehan Jr. and Gladys McGeehan, Chuck was the proud namesake of a family legacy he carried with quiet dignity. He was the beloved brother of Kathleen and Ethel, and a man whose life was deeply rooted in family, tradition, and community.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Miriam "Ginger" McGeehan, with whom he shared a remarkable love story that began during a writing assignment in Puerto Rico-where he fell in love at first sight. Their bond remained strong and steady through decades of life, laughter, and family.

He was a devoted father to Michael McGeehan (Mechelle) and Russell McGeehan (Marcie), and a proud grandfather to Brett McGeehan (Sarah Collins), Eric McCleary Jr., Hali McCleary, Mason McGeehan, and David Granger. Chuck was also a cherished great-grandfather to Isaiah McGeehan, son of Brett and Sarah.

A passionate sports enthusiast, Chuck spent much of his life immersed in the games he loved-not only as a fan, but as a respected sportswriter. With deep ties to the Baltimore Orioles and the local sports community, he brought insight, heart, and a storyteller's voice to every game he covered. He was known for sharing vivid stories from his life-especially his time in Puerto Rico and other baseball destinations-filled with memorable interactions with players and behind-the-scenes moments that captured the spirit of the sport.

After concluding his career in sports writing, Chuck returned to school to complete his Master's degree. He later worked for the Archdiocese of Maryland as a dedicated teacher, continuing his lifelong commitment to education and service.

A Memorial Service to honor Chuck's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Evans Life Celebration Home, 8800 Harford Road, Parkville, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to pay tribute to consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in Chuck's memory. Donations can be made at the link below.
