Dr. Charles Ronald Merrell

Dr. Charles Ronald Merrell, 84, of Canton, GA passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025. Bornon October 19, 1940 in Roopville, GA, he was the son of the late Marie Pettey Merrell and Robbie A. Merrell. Charles graduated from Carrollton High School in 1958 and went on to earn degrees from The University of Georgia in 1962 (Agriculture) and 1965 (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine).
On December 28, 1962, he married Linda Sue Fuller in Roopville, GA. Together they raised two sons: Charles Scott Merrell and Christopher Shannon Merrell. Charles worked as a Veterinarian for the United States Department of Agriculture for 34 years and then as a private consultant Veterinarian to the poultry industry for another 22 years.
Charles was known for being a hard worker and cultivating his love of agriculture/farming outside of his main occupation. He raised cattle, bailed hay, and bought and sold tractors for many years. He first drove a tractor at 7 years old. He and wife Linda built their family homes, doing much of the work themselves.
He is survived by his wife, Linda F. Merrell, sons Charles Scott Merrell (Darlene), Christopher Shannon Merrell (Lisa), four grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robbie A. "Bob" Merrell.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with Dr. George Anderson, and Scott Merrell officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 15, 2025, and from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at South Canton Funeral Home.
