Charles "Charlie" Meyer, 62, of Meppen, IL passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL with family by his side. He was born in the doctor's office in Hardin, IL on October 8, 1962, the son of Edwin and Joyce (Barnes) Meyer. Charlie married Ellen Rea on August 30, 1986, in Hardin. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2015.
Charlie worked at Sharecropper Farms in his earlier years, then went to the FS in Hardin. After that he became an over the road truck driver. Charlie enjoyed fishing, hunting (especially his coyote hunts), watching STL Cardinals, Nascar, and spending time with his family.
Survivors are his sons, Christopher (Maggie) Meyer of Batchtown and Patrick (Ellyn) Meyer of Springfield, IL. His mother, Joyce Meyer of Brussels, brother Doug Meyer of Jerseyville, sisters Rose (John) Wreath of Brussels, Donna Steppan of Brussels, Mary (Henry) Titus of Rosewood Heights, IL and several nieces, Sarah (Florent) Zumberi of Palatine, IL, Amy Meyer (Jason Steckel) of Jerseyville, Karenrose Steppan of Orlando, FL, Nicole (Zachary) Meszaros of Wood River, IL, Michelle (Kyle) Yenne of Godfrey, IL. Those that preceded him in death were his father, a brother David Meyer and a sister-in-law Kim Meyer.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Brussels. Funeral services will be conducted on February 1, 2025, at 10:00 am at the funeral home thenceforth to the burial site at Cresswell Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Cresswell Cemetery or People's Choice.
