Charles Monteith Obituary
Mr. Charles E. Monteith, Age 94, of Vanceburg, Kentucky passed away Sunday December 17, 2023 at Southern Ohio Medical center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Charles was born in Lewis County, Kentucky July 6, 1929 to the late Richard and Effie Gilbert Monteith. Charles was a farmer, and worked construction all his life. He was of the Christian faith. Charles loved going to yard sales and traveling to flea markets.
Preceded him in death beside his parents was his wife Nellie Belle Flinders Monteith in 2000. Grandson- Eddie Goodwin Jr., four sisters- Georgia Ellen Scott Wright, Florence Corns, Wilma Monteith, and Lucy Smith. Eight brothers- Richard Monteith, Carl Monteith, Paul Monteith, Harry Monteith, Raymond Monteith, Eddie Monteith, Roy Monteith, and John Monteith.
Left to cherish his memories are two daughters- Teresa Goodwin of Vanceburg, Kentucky, and Paula (Leonard) Mason of Tollesboro, Kentucky.
One son- Charles Jr. (Christina) Monteith of Tollesboro, Kentucky.
One sister- Ella Jean Monteith- Vanceburg, Kentucky.
3-grandchildren- Sarah Meadows, Eric Monteith, and Leonard Mason Jr.
4-great-grandchildren- Isaac Meadows, Leah Meadows, Zayden Mason, and Zoey Mason.
Graveside services will be held Thursday December 21, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Lewis County Memory Gardens Black Oak, Kentucky with Brother Tony Corns officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday December 21, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179
Pallbearers for Charles E. Monteith will be Eric Monteith, Leonard Mason Jr., Leonard Mason, Isaac Meadows, Kenton Meadows, and Carman Smith.
