Obituary of Charles Michael Morgan
Charles "Chuck" Morgan, 72, passed away in his home with the comfort of his loved ones in Niles, Michigan, on December 2, 2022.
He was born on November 9, 1950, in Niles, Michigan to the late Charles and Sarah (Hill) Morgan. Chuck was a graduate of Niles High School; he later went on to earn an associate's degree. On January 22, 1972, he married his sweetheart Pamela, whom he had met at his welcome back party after returning from the Vietnam War where he served in the Army. He would often share it was love at first sight. Chuck would go on to be a part of the Army reserves while starting his family with his wife in their early years of their marriage. Chuck and Pamela shared their 50th anniversary this past year.
Chuck was known by many as Coach Morgan, as he was very involved with the Niles area youth baseball organizations, coaching, referring, and being an umpire, for the FOP and Babe Ruth programs. He not only loved the sport of baseball, he also valued teaching the sport to the youth in Niles, Michigan. Chuck would spend many years faithfully walking two blocks from his home to unlock Thomas Babe Ruth Stadium as a loyal committee member.
Chuck enjoyed playing music, especially the guitar. In his twenties he played in a band that would bring enjoyment to many at the Niles American Legion Post #26, where he also volunteered. His favorite moments were spent doting on his wife, spending time with his four children, and spoiling his grandchildren.
He is preceded in passing by his parents, and his sister Rose Morgan-Zorn.
Surviving Chuck is his wife, Pam Morgan; children, Amber Morgan, Michael (Cheryl) Morgan, Amanda Morgan, Sean (Kelly Barrett) Morgan; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, along with two great-grandchildren expected this year; brother, Jeff (Corinne) Morgan; sister Phyllis (Virgil) Warner; along with an extended family.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
