Charles Thomas Morrison

Charles Thomas Morrison, 70 of Suffolk, VA, passed away November 22, 2025. Born to parents George Arthur Morrison and Maxann Kerr Morrison on November 10, 1955, in Durham, NC, at Duke Hospital. He grew up in Suffolk where he was active in Boy Scouts and played baseball. He graduated from Suffolk High School in 1974. While in high school he was active in band, playing trumpet and French horn in concert, marching and jazz bands and he served as Drum Major.
His love of music followed him to North Carolina State University where he played flugelhorn in the marching band and studied the engineering of making musical instruments. He earned degrees in Operations and Materials Engineering. While working on his Masters, he did research at the Argon Research Center in Chicago for North Carolina State University, Cal Tech and Georgia Tech. In his professional life he was an engineer at a manufacturing plant that made ceramic parts for Ford company and he wrote training manuals for the Navy.
Charles Thomas is survived by his mother, Maxann Kerr Morrison; siblings, Teresa Underwood, Randall Morrison and wife Nancy Bird, Lisa Morrison, and Charles Connolly and his wife Mary; nieces and nephews, Aimee Underwood, Daniel Underwood, Lail Morrison, Charlotte Harmon, Richard Goforth, Jennifer Wood, Gwendolyn Ramirez and Meca Connolly.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Friday, November 28, 2025 at Suffolk Presbyterian Church, 105 St. James Ave. Suffolk 23434. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asked for donations to the Suffolk Presbyterian Church. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, Downtown Suffolk Chapel is serving the family.
