Celebrating the Life of Charles "Patrick" (Pete) Muras
August 27, 1948 - July 14, 2023
Pat was born on August 27, 1948 in
Houston, Texas where he was the first son of Agnes Prazak Muras and Charles Joseph Muras. They raised him and their other two sons, Larry Joseph Muras and Allan Ray Muras in Jacinto City. He attended Galena Park Independent School District and later worked in a local ceramic shop located in
Pasadena, TX. He was also a faithful member of "Our Lady of Fatima" Catholic Church for over 50 years.
After the passing of both of his parents, his brother, Larry became his guardian and caretaker for over 17 years. Pat was able to continue a busy-filled life with activities, sports, crafts, and numerous friends in Spring, TX where he lived with Larry and his sister-in-law, Belinda Muras. Pat was involved in many activities every day of the week. He was a part of Brightlife YMCA Program, the Legends Softball team, and The Woodlands Shooting Stars. He was active in bowling, bocci, and softball and he was known to many as "Coach Pat." Once he started to slow down in life, he was blessed to become a resident of The Forum of The Woodlands in 2021. His brother and sister-in-law would visit him everyday to ensure that he would exercise and go outside to look at the ducks and turtles. Belinda and Larry made sure that Pat was never alone and did not have any unmet needs. They hired extra caregivers to make sure someone checked on him and the rest of the family would also go by to visit. There is not one single day that Pat was ever alone. From the caretakers at the Forum, to his personal home health care nurse, Ugi, family and friends, he was always surrounded by love.
Pat loved the Astros and was a big sports fanatic. He was an athlete with Special Olympics and has numerous medals and trophies. He loved to be a part of the bowling and bocci teams and this is where he met so many kind friends. These organizations truly kept Pat going and a godsend to his family. Pat loved to eat and his favorite food was Mexican. He was a man of few words but once he got comfortable with you, he would be so inquisitive and ask a million questions. He wanted to know all about everyone and where they were. He genuinely cared about people. He would never forget a birthday. He was meticulous at keeping up his calendar and noted everyone's birthday, anniversaries, and all special occasions. He lived a simple life and was very routine in his daily activities. He would let us know if something was off or not planned. Pat especially loved Christmas time and loved Christmas music. When people say Christmas is for kids, it's also for Pat. He loved to see what Santa brought him every year. He was spoiled rotten on all the holidays. He had special shirts to wear and was always given a special treat or gift for each holiday. His room was always decorated and festive. The nurses loved to see what décor was in his room each month. Pat loved the outdoors and loved looking out the window at nature. The things that many take for granted, Pat did not. He soaked up all of Gods treasures, from looking at the trees, to the birds and squirrels. He noticed it all.
Pat was a unique, big loving teddy bear. He was a gentle giant. At times, he was clumsy but within the same minute, he would let a chihuahua sit on his lap while he pet him for hours. While we are heartbroken that he is no longer with us, we are so grateful that God put him in our lives to teach us all the important things that truly matter. It is the quiet things, family, and God. Thank you Pat for being our "Big Boy" and we are going to miss you dearly. We are comforted knowing that you now in the loving arms of Jesus and your mom and dad. Until we meet again, Go Astros!
