Charles O'Brien Osburn
June 23, 1933 – July 31, 2025
Charlie passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and the grace of God.
Charlie began his journey in the Army during the Korean Conflict and later reenlisted in the Navy as a Paratrooper. As chance would have it, this path led him to the woman who would change his life in every way. He spent the next 69 years with Jeanne, who was by his side, holding his hand as he slipped peacefully away to return to his Father.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Charlie's love for Jesus was anything but quiet-it radiated through every part of his life. He was a bold witness to the agape love of Jesus. Charlie and Jeanne opened a fine dining restaurant called Mama Nunnari's, where Charlie had a powerful encounter with the Lord. Prompted by the Holy Spirit, he gave up the liquor license and eventually removed prices from the menu. Charlie went from feeding the prominent to feeding the homeless, the addicted, and the broken. He shared Jesus with them and showed them unconditional love.
Two books were published: "The Charlie Osburn Story: You Gotta Give It All to Jesus", and "Love Walks By Faith", both of which were given freely along with cassette tapes. For eight years, he hosted a program on the TBN Network, sharing the Gospel across the globe. He founded Good News of Pensacola and led the International School of Evangelization for ten years at St. Anthony in Pensacola. With the help of Father Gray and volunteers, Charlie also hosted a weekly free dinner at St. Anne in Bellview, where he guided others in faith and fellowship.
Through his ministry, Charlie helped establish the Church of Divine Mercy in Belize, Central America, and an orphanage in Uganda-each a reflection of his heart for missions and his deep love for children.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanne, his faithful partner in life and ministry. Together, they built a legacy of faith, service, and unconditional love. He is also survived by his children, Brian, Doug (Michele), Craig (Heather), and Amy (Greg). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Regina; his daughter-in-law, Sonia; and his granddaughter, Molly.
He is remembered by his siblings: Dixie (David), Bonnie (Ted), and John; and sister-in-law, Ann; along with many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by Danny and Dorothy (Hal).
Charlie's grandchildren include: Megan, Josh (Evee), Madison (Rob), Haley (Tina), April (Jeremy), Gracie, Zack, Sofia, Miranda (James), Brooke (Ben), Rachael, Sarah (Nick), Briana (Matt), Elena, Winter (John), and Chad (Nicole).
His great-grandchildren include: Layla, Leo, Eden, Malaya, Connor, Vincent, Thomas, Lucas, Xander, Brecken, Brayden, Abigail, Cecilia, Kailey, and Bailey.
Charlie is also remembered with love by his extended family and by countless others who affectionately called him "Pe-Paw"-whether by blood, by bond, or through ministry.
He leaves behind not only a large and loving family, but also a world forever touched by his obedience to God's calling.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Reverend John O'Neill. There will be a Visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. and Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. A reception in the Church Hall will immediately follow Mass. The burial will be private.
"In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to support the Good News of Divine Mercy Orphanage School in Uganda-Charlie's most recent and deeply cherished mission. His heart was especially moved by the children there, and continuing this work is one of the most meaningful ways to honor his legacy.
