John Joseph Clark, Jr., lovingly known as "Jon Jon" and "Poppy John", passed away on August 4, 2025, at the age of 72. A lifelong resident of Pensacola, Florida, John was a man of deep faith, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Born on July 6, 1953, John grew up in Pensacola and graduated from Pensacola Catholic High School. He began his career as Assistant Regional Manager at CFS Air Cargo on NAS Pensacola before selflessly stepping away to care for his disabled parents. He took over his father's property management business during this time, dedicating years of his life to caregiving, compassionately looking after his mother, Catherine "Kitty" Clark, who had Alzheimer's disease, and his father, John Joseph "JJ" Clark, Sr., who battled ALS and was bedridden and ventilator-dependent for many years.
After his caregiving years, John worked at Ascend Performance Materials where he made many lifelong friendships and eventually retired six years ago.
John had a lifelong passion for music and a beautiful gift for singing. He shared that gift generously with his church community, coordinating and singing in the choirs at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church every Sunday, right up until his hospitalization. John was also a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Jude Catholic Church. His roots began with his family at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Bellview, where he was involved in the music ministry, the annual St. Anne's Round-Up, and many other activities around the church.
It was at St. Anne's in October 1996 that he met the love of his life, Therese. They married on March 15, 2003. John's greatest joy was his family. He was a loving husband and a proud father and grandfather, and nothing meant more to him than the people he loved.
John was known throughout the Pensacola community for his warmth, generosity, and genuine spirit. He never met a stranger and was always quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Joseph "JJ" Clark Sr.; his mother, Catherine "Kitty" Clark; and his sisters, Patricia Neylon and Kathy Lees.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Therese; daughter, Ashley Kenney; son, Lucas Hughes (Stacy); daughters, Angie Maddox (Steven) and Kristy Conway (Will); grandchildren, Jayla, Jamie, Drew, Ellis, Liam, Boston, Tyler, Kaylee, and Dylan; brother, Tom Kane; and many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial Service will be held: Saturday, August 16, 2025, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 303 Rocky Ave, Cantonment, FL 32533.
A Rosary will be prayed at 11:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM, and fellowship with luncheon in the parish hall beginning at 1:30 PM. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John's life.
