Charles E Ovans, age 102 passed away on December 26, 2025 in Fall River. Charles was born January 5, 1923 in his family home in Pennington Wisconsin, the son of Charles and Mamie Nelson Ovans. He graduated from Prentice High School and Airplane Mechanic School in Racine Wisconsin. Charles came to Janesville in 1942 to work for Morey Airplane Company's glider program which trained pilots in preparation for D-Day. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate from 1943 to 1946. Charles married Rosemary Vermillion on June 8, 1946 at St Mary Catholic church in Janesville and lived in Janesville until 1977 when the family moved into a new house in Milton that he built with the help of his son Michael. In 1948 he earned his Government Aircraft and Engine license at the Janesville Vocational school, the first class of its kind for this school. He earned his private pilot's license while working at the Rock County airport in 1948. Employed as a journeyman carpenter since 1951, a member of Carpenter's Local #836. He was a self-employed home builder for many years and also worked for local companies T.S.Willis, JP Cullen and Ford Construction. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Mamie, His wife of 77 years Rosemary, brother David and sisters Gladys Peterson and Lindy Davis. He is survived by his son Michael (Michelle) of Beaver Dam, daughter Kathleen (Chris) Farlinger of Janesville, grandchildren Thomas, Nicholas and Colton and many special nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday January 5, 2026 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Milton. Visitation will be 10:00 am Monday January 5, 2026 at the church. Burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Janesville. The Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Milton is assisting the family with arrangements.
