It is with heavy hearts and celebrating spirits that we announce that Apostle Charles E. Parris, Jr., age 75, has fought the good fight, finished his race, and claimed the ultimate victory on August 15, 2025, at 9:51 a.m.
Charles was born to Charles “Charlie” and Bertha Mae Parris and was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Carl Parris, his sister Danelle Swafford, and his beloved niece Donna Smith.
He was a devoted husband to LaVance Parris and a loving father to Charles “Chuck” Parris III (Tracy), Chanda Bailey (Vincent), Aleta Jennings (Lance), Amanda Curvin, Chris Curvin, Aaron Parris (Julie), and Jennifer Kelley, also a chosen son and daughter Franics and Lynn Beard. As well as a devoted ranch hand Dorothy Ware
Charles was blessed with many grandchildren, including Lauren Kilgore, Jordan Godbee, Bridget Smith, Kelli Rogers, Shante’ Stambaugh, Ayla Siskey, Alyssa Bragg, Jessica Horton, Honesty McCoy, Stephen Curvin, Dylan Curvin, Parris Buttram, Emilee Parris, and Joseph Parris; and a bonus granddaughter Cadence Buttram, as well as great-grandchildren and countless spiritual sons and daughters who will continue his legacy of faith and love.
He is also survived by his sisters Juanita Kiker, Betty Ford, Charlene (Sam) Mellon, and Sheila (Blake) Burgess; along with nieces and nephews Clayton Parris, Derek Parris, Debra Manning, Denise Rowan, Kristy Nadack, Christopher Mellon, April Cleveland, Joshua Jenkins, and Alana Webb.
Apostle Parris faithfully served as a shepherd and spiritual father, touching countless lives with his ministry, wisdom, and compassion. His impact extended far beyond his immediate family, as he poured himself into the lives of others, raising generations in the Word of God and demonstrating Christ’s love in both word and deed.
He will be remembered not only for his devotion to his family and church, but also for his unwavering faith, servant’s heart, and the joy he carried into every room. Though his earthly journey has ended, his influence will live on through the many lives he helped transform.
Services will be held at Dansby Heritage Chapel. Visitation will be on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral will follow the next day on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 11:00am. Officiating the funeral service will be Dr. James Fair, Rev. Marl Gidley, and Rev. William Trapp.
