Mildred Coogler Hames, 95, of Piedmont, gained her wings on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
Born in Piedmont, AL, she was the oldest of eight children born to Chester Eugene and Elsie Coley Coogler. She was one who loved to crochet, do puzzles at Dugger Mountain, travel, garden, and shop. She loved Easter Egg hunts and visiting with her grandkids. She was an active member of Tredegar Congregational Holiness Church and lived at Myrick Manor in Jacksonville for a brief time. She was a spunky little lady who enjoyed life.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Horace Hames; two brothers: Hamilton Coogler and Bobby Coogler, and four sisters: Joyce Gould, Jean Espy, Francis Bragg, and Diane Ford.
She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands: Elaine (Marlin) Gilmer and Sherry (Neil ) Parker; sister: Marie Key; grandchildren: Marla (Adam) Harrison, Preston (Kathryn ) Parker, Heather (Matthew) Headley and Taylor (Karrie) Parker; 6 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from Dansby Heritage Chapel with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Rev. Hayward Clark will officiate and burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville. Pallbearers will be Preston Parker, Taylor Parker, Matthew Headley, Blake McNair, Jeff Key and Darren Ford.
Dansby Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the Hames Family.
