David Hames Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels - Coon Rapids on Jan. 4, 2026.
David Brian Hames of Blaine, MN passed away on January 1, 2026 -his 69th birthday-surrounded by his loving family after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Dave was born on January 1, 1957, in Owatonna, Minnesota. He graduated from Owatonna High School and began his career in the mining & logging industry, then as a construction superintendent. The last 25 years, he thrived at his role as a Director of Sales. No matter the role, Dave was known for his strong work ethic and dependability. Providing for his family and doing his job well were sources of pride and purpose for him.

On July 13, 1985, Dave was united in marriage to Roxy Swigerd. Together, they raised three amazing and strong daughters-Ashley, Alyssa, and Amber. Dave wasn't one for grand displays of affection, but his love for his family was constant and unmistakable. He was deeply proud of his girls and supported them in everything they did.

Dave enjoyed traveling, especially the family's yearly trips to Mexico, which became some of their most treasured memories. These trips reflected what mattered most to him-time together, shared experiences, and being present with the people he loved.

Dave will be remembered as a devoted husband, a proud father, and a man of quiet strength. His love was steady and his loyalty unwavering. His independence-stubborn at times-was simply part of the man everyone knew and loved.

David is survived by his wife, Roxy; his daughters, Ashley (Mark) Mangskau, Alyssa (Trey) Broussard, and Amber Hames; his eight grandchildren, Korbin, Brynlee, Rylee, Sydney, Afton, Peyton, Leyla, and Dallas; and his mother-in-law, Evelyn Swigerd.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Baumgartner, father-in-law, Bruce Swigerd and brother-in-law, Rick Swigerd.
