CHARLES ALBERT PATRY
Charles Albert (Chuck) Patry, born on February 2, 1947, in Goessel, Kansas, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, at AdventHealth in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, the son of Albert and Eloise (Burgat) Patry. Charles lived a full and meaningful life guided by his strong sense of community, family, and service.
Charles graduated from Florence High School in Florence, Kansas, in 1965 and later from Emporia State University for his Bachelor's in Education and Kansas State University, obtaining his Master's in Education Administration in 1977. Charles' education career spanned across Kansas as a classroom educator in Blue Rapids to an elementary principal at Central Heights near Ottawa and Horton Elementary in Horton.
As an accomplished teacher and school administrator, he devoted his career to shaping the minds and futures of countless children. His impactful career was supplemented by his commitment to community service, notably through his volunteer work at Hope House and the Ottawa Public Library. He was a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Church in Ottawa, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Charles was united in marriage to Donna Reinecke on June 13, 1981, with whom he shared a loving union until her passing on October 22, 2018. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home for their family.
He is survived by his daughter, Sara Patry of Topeka, Kansas, and his daughter, Julie Heidenreich of Hudson, Wisconsin. Charles found joy in his five grandchildrenMatthew, Melissa, Daisy, Mandie, and Gina. He is also survived by his brother Don Patry (Ellen), who shares fond memories of their time together.
Throughout his lifetime, Charles engaged in hobbies that brought him happiness, including family days with his daughters every Sunday, cheering for the Royals and Chiefs, enjoying various sports, and indulging in his love for reading the paper and bargain shopping, especially for a good grocery deal.
Charles will be remembered as a devoted father and grandfather, a passionate educator, and a man of unwavering faith and community spirit. His kindness, humor, and dedication to his family and community will leave an enduring mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Rosary will be said at 10 am, Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa, Kansas. Family will greet friends at 10:15 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am, also at the Church. Interment at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
