Charles F. Schelle was born January 28, 1931, raised and lived on his family farm all his life.
Charles attended Klondike Elementary High School and a long member of Lafayette Christian Reform Church.
On September 14, 1951 Charles married Pauline Dykstra. She proceeded him in death February 2, 2008. They were married 57 years.
He was a farmer at heart but worked several jobs before retiring from Eli Lilly in the Fire and Security Department after 30 years in 1988. He helped with the maintenance of the Chapel and Church for numerous years until he was 93.
Charles love of his life was his wife, kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
His hobbies were playing around on his mowers and tractor. He was very particular about keeping the yards and ditches mowed. He would go to the woods, cut some tree down, build a fire and sit there and eat 2 hotdogs. He loved to host wiener roasts. He also loved playing with the grandkids & great grandkids.

Proceeded in death by his wife, Pauline Schelle; parents Jacob and Ethel Schelle; Brothers Jacob Schelle Jr., Richard Schelle, Donald Schelle and a sister Mary Korschot.
Survived by children: Sandra Schelle (husband Spencer Bower), Randal Schelle (wife Lorna), Gary Schelle (wife Diane), Teresa Moore (husband Mark). Grandchildren: Bradley Schelle (wife Amber), Ashley Schelle (wife Amy), Aprill Gilman (husband Andrew), Lauren Saloh (husband Nate), Matthew Schelle, Sara Vandewalle (husband Adam), Ryan Moore (significant other Megan Richason), Robert Moore (fiancé Mary Hale). Great Grandchildren: Conner Schelle, Luke Schelle, Joslyn Schelle, Issac Schelle, Caleb Schelle, Levi Schelle, Elias Schelle, Camden Gilman, Alyson Gilman, Brayden Gilman, Henry Vandewalle, Elsie Vandewalle.
A special thank you to Franciscan Hospices, Nurse Jamie and the whole staff.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Hippensteel Funeral Home, 822 N. 9th Street, Lafayette. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Entombment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
