Charles M. (Chuck) Shuler, age 84, of Yorkville, IL, went to be with the Lord on
August 7, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 8, 1941, to Alva and Florence (Kammin) Shuler in Aurora.
He grew up in Oswego and graduated from Oswego High School in 1959. He then
went to Drake University and received his pharmacy degree in 1963.
Soon after graduation, Chuck married Julie Hanson. They just celebrated 62 years
of marriage a few days before his passing, and were grateful for so many
wonderful years together!
Chuck served the Oswego community in multiple areas and was a volunteer for the
Oswego Fire Department for 32 years. While on the department, he enjoyed giving
tours of the fire barn to the young school children. But Chuck is most known for
being the owner of Shuler's Drug Store, from the time he bought the store from his
father in 1967 until he closed in November 2000.
Chuck is survived by his wife Julie, their daughter Jill (Rob) Canaday, their son
Brad (Julieann) Shuler, granddaughter Hayley (Steve Robertson) Shuler, and great-
grandson Colton Robertson. He is also survived by his sister Ann Harrod, sister-in-
law Carol Hanson, cousins Annette Kleckner and Susan Batchelder, nieces and
nephews Kathy Harrod, Janice Lenius, Bill Harrod, Eric Hanson, and Jennifer
Gonnella, as well as several step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 23, from 3:00 to 7::00 pm at Dunn Family
Funeral Home, 1801 South Douglas Road, Oswego.
A Memorial Service will be Sunday, August 24 at 2:00 pm at New Life Church, 3205 Cannonball Trail,
Yorkville, IL.
